Who Will Love the House?

Biblical Love

Love is an Action
Love is a Decision
If you are waiting to feel like you love the Church, your love for the House is going to ebb & flow.
Psalm 69:9
“Zeal for Your House consumes Me.”

Psalm 26:8
Lord, I love the house where You live, the place where Your glory dwells.

Psalm 27:4
One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek:  that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord, and to seek Him in His temple.

Psalm 36:7-8
How priceless is Your unfailing love, O God!  People take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.  They feast on the abundance of Your house; You give them drink from Your river of delights.  For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.

Psalm 52:8
But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.  For what You have done I will always praise You in the presence of Your faithful people.

Psalm 84:10
Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

Psalm 92:12-13
The righteous will flourish like a palm tree; they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

Loving the House

The Word of God is clear;  it’s not just loving God,     it is loving the House.
“Don’t build Me a Christian theater;  build Me a House.”
You’ve got to love God’s house somewhere!
Loving the house is not loving your function/ministry.

John

“The disciple that Jesus loved.”

John 21:7
Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!”  As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water.
“Do you love Me more than these?”
“Feed My sheep.”

But He didn’t choose the one He loved the most;
He chose the one that loved Him the most.

The relationships of life that are most sustainable, lasting, & productive are not with the people who you love, but with the people that love you.

If it’s only your love that sustains a thing, then your love will always have to sustain it.
“Do you love Me more than these?”
“Lord, You know I do.”

Psalm 26:8
“I love Your house.”
